Blue Light Glasses At Different Price Points

You guys, the digital eye strain is realer than ever. That’s why I’m so into blue light glasses. Honestly, I’m wearing blue light glasses from about 8:30AM to 10:30PM. Every Monday-Friday without fail. I believe in blue light glasses SO much. I believe it’s a real issue that not many people talk about. I wrote a post about digital eye strain a while ago (including how random episodes of vision loss and numbness in my hands led me to get diagnosed with chronic migraines), and I still don’t think people know how important it is to raise awareness for digital eye strain. You can look at The Vision Council’s site to read more about digital eye strain, but today I wanted to talk more about the glasses that really save me the headache (literally). Since wearing my blue light filtering glasses, I haven’t gotten ONE migraine. So that’s a year and a half without them! I will cheers to that! If you want to know JUST how much I love my blue light filtering glasses, I can say that I have a pair EVERYWHERE: At my office, at my desk at home, on my nightstand, and in my bag for when I’m reading on the train or at Matt’s house. Yup, I have a different pair for all of my most-frequented locations;) I often get a lot of questions on Instagram about my glasses, how I like them, where I got them, etc. It got me thinking about how I have a pair from a ton of different brands at a lot of different price points. My short answer is: No. It doesn’t matter what brand you have. I mean, they’ve all been working for me, and I’m on my computer A TON. So I wanted to share the brands I have with you today because they’re all at different price points — which means you have NO excuse not to buy some. Pixel I now have three pairs of Pixel glasses, and honestly I love them a lot. I have these in tortoise and these in black and clear. Both styles just fit my face really well. They made the migraines stop so I feel like I’m forever indebted to them;) You can also get your prescription added to the glasses (I don’t wear prescription, but I’ve always wanted to LOL). I have a coupon code for you too — use “DANA” at checkout to receive a discount! YIPPEEE. Bookclub I first saw these frames on Meggan of Somewhere Lately , and I was like OH THESE ARE FUN. So naturally, I bought them LOL. They’re definitely more fashion forward, but I think they’re kinda fun! I keep these at my desk at home, so as soon as I sit down, these babies go on. Whenever I post them to my Instagram Stories, I get a lot of questions about them, so I figured I should definitely mention them in a post! I will agree that these are definitely on the pricier side, but they can be worn as fashion glasses as well as being practical, so it can totally be justified. Amazon This pair is like the secret weapon…since they’re only $15.99! I keep this pair at my office, and I definitely see an improvement in my eye strain when I have them on. When I first started at Free People, I noticed my team was wearing glasses and then I told them I was so happy they were wearing them! Soon enough, all of the Sales team also had their blue light blocking frames. We literally all have the exact same pairs, just in different colors. I love how many colors this pair comes in! I have the olive green ones. They’re just so cute on! For whatever reason, digital eye strain is something I’m really trying to “educate” people on. It’s seriously insane how many negative effects screens have on our eyes. Since I’ have a lot of different pairs at different price points, I wanted to make sure I shared them with you so that you can pick out the perfect blue light glasses to protect your eyes! (And don’t get me started on our skin. I wrote more about blue light and the defense beauty products I use — so be sure to check that out.) photo by lydia hudgens

    The Beauty Edit: March

A round up of this month’s favorite beauty, skincare, and wellness products! This month’s theme (well, we don’t really do themes, but like whatever) should be moisturizing products. Most of the products featured in today’s post are insanely hydrating. I think it’s important to highlight really hydrating products since we’re about to go through a transition in the weather. So let’s get to it! Lancer // The Method: Nourish Moisturizer I’ve been using this product for about a week now, and MAN IS IT HYDRATING. I combine it with my tanning oil drops and my skin is UNBELIEVABLY hydrated almost instantly. I definitely recommend this for nighttime use only, as it is pretty thick. Also, I know it’s really expensive, and I typically don’t spend this much on products, but after reading the reviews, I honestly just couldn’t resist. There’s hyluronic acid in it which it why it’s crazy hydrating. Avocado and olive fruit oils help lock in that moisture, which leaves my skin super soft and smooth. I also saw that there is a peptide called Hexapeptide-48, which improves skin elasticity, fine lines, and wrinkles. GIMME GIMME GIMME. Lancer // Omega Hydrating Oil Again, another product that intensely hydrates . I often switch on and off between this oil and my cannabis oil because I love both equally. My complexion looks healthy and the Omega fatty acids help protect against signs of environmental stress. Again, I know this is expensive, but a little goes A LONG way. I only use about 1-2 drops on the nights I use it, and I still get a ton of hydration from it. PS: Don’t forget to use on your neck! Clé de Peau Beauté // Intensive Brightening Mask I received a few of these masks as a gift from the brand, and really recommend. I love that it comes in 2 parts, so it’s super easy to apply. This mask is an easy solution for sun spots, age spots, and overall dullness. My skin looks and feels SO great after one of these (just 10 minutes). There’s a lot of excess once you remove the mask, so I use a roller/facial massager to help absorb more into my skin. Glyderm // Cleanser, Moisturizer, Lotion Glyderm is a new-to-me brand that was created by physicians, and I was really excited to try them out. So far I’ve used the cleanser (really like how this cleansed my skin at night and in the AM, the Hydrotone moisturizer, and the gentle exfoliating lotion.

A look at the beauty and skincare products I’ve been loving this month! Not Your Mother’s Hair Products I used to swear by Drybar’s dry shampoo (I still do use it). Until I discovered NYM products. And now I am officially changed. I’m really into having a lot of grit in my hair now that it’s short. I was STOKED to discover the Texturizing Dry Shampoo because why wouldn’t you want some additional grit ALL while soaking up the oil from your 3 day hair?;) It also smells AMAZING. And then the Texturizing Dry Spray – I have like, ZERO words. It’s THAT good. It’s a 2-in-1 in terms of giving your hair some volume/grit along with a decent hold for your beach waves and curls. You honestly cannot beat the price of these products either. So these two products are MUST. HAVES. IN. MY. BOOK. HUM Skin Heroes I received the Skin Heroes in a press package and decided to really take them. I’ve been taking them for about 2 weeks and have definitely noticed a difference in my gut health and overall digestion. The one thing I haven’t really seen a difference in yet is my skin. I always get random and annoying chin break outs, and I thought this would help. Not much of an improvement there, but I’m going to keep taking them. I guess we’ll see! Supergoop Glow Stick I was at the pool with my sister a few weekends ago, and in her little bag of all pool things (it was a BIG BAG) was this product . It felt SO nice on my face while I was in the sun. Basically it’s a glow boosting oil stick for your face, chest, and shoulders. You can use it as a highlighter to brighten your every day look while protecting your face with SPF 50! What products are YOU loving this month?

A look at the beauty, skincare, and self care products I’ve been loving this month! elderberry gummies Not only do these taste delicious, they’re also a natural way to support your body’s immune system. Elderberries are packed with antioxidants and potassium , as well as act as an anti-inflammatory. Now that it’s cold and flu season, I’m trying to prevent getting sick at all costs. I’m trying to do less medicines and more natural things to help my body. apple cider vinegar shampoo I mentioned this shampoo briefly in The Friday Edit a few weeks ago, but wanted to circle back to talk about it more in depth. I’m honestly LOVING this shampoo so far. For a while, I’ve been taking a lot of heat to my hair, so I was excited to learn that WOW helps repair damaged hair. Also, winter is upon us here in New York, and this shampoo helps ease dry scalp. Another great thing about WOW is that it really cleans your hair. Since I don’t wash my hair very often, I love the feeling of a super clean scalp after using this shampoo. And one more thing to note: This shampoo helps with slowing down hair loss! Although this isn’t something I personally deal with, I thought it was such a great talking point – in case you’re dealing with that! welly first aid One day I was at Allie’s apartment and desperately (ok, fine, not desperate) needed a bandaid. She handed me these Welly bandaids and said I could keep them. At first, I thought they were kind of weird because they were in a tin and looked funny. I obviously put one on anyway, and was SO impressed by them. The specific bandaids I used were hydrocolloid pads that seal in moisture to promote faster healing (i.e. keeping out germs and dirt). I also swear these bandaids stuck to you LIKE GLUE. Seriously. And they didn’t get that gross “yeah, I’ve been wearing this bandaid for too long” look. So basically, I’m never NOT going to be wearing these bandaids when I get a cut or blister! There are so many kinds of bandaids and kits you can get – and you won’t believe the price!

A look at the beauty and skincare products I’ve been loving this month! Benefit Brow Bar My eyebrows are becoming more and more important to me. I realized my brows were SCREAMING for attention just a few days before I left for Croatia. And let’s just say I haven’t given them attention in months. I really liked a local place that my sister and I went to in May, but they’ve been booked up forever. I knew Elle loved Benefit , so I made a last minute appointment at their SoHo location. And let’s just say, OBSESSED. I ended up getting a lip wax (WHAT?!) and brow wax/tint. I LOVE a good dark, filled in brow, and mah girl Kara knew what she was doing! It’s not cheap, it cost me about $60 (with tip) to get the three services. Definitely worth it before a trip though! Neutrogena Purifying Wipes I picked these up on a whim in CVS one night after work . If I’m in a pinch, I used to use the make up remover wipes. But these? WAY BETTER. These wipes clean the skin and remove make up without stripping your face of natural oils. Definitely packing these in my carry on for the plane so I can use them before my in-flight skincare routine. OPI Big Apple Red Any time I post something super close up of my nails, I get questions or comments about my nail color. At this point in my life, I can 100% say that OPI’s Big Apple Red is definitely my signature color. Every time I think I want something different and get it…I end up hating it. And then go back to my favorite color. There’s just something about it that seems so chic and classic. And really goes with everything! What’s your go to color? What products are you loving this month? What do I need to try next?!

A look at the beauty, skincare, and self care products I’ve been loving this month! BROW STYLER EYEBROW PENCIL & POWDER DUO I mentioned in this post that I was loving Benefit for a good eyebrow tint and wax. I went 2 weeks ago and the girl who did my brows introduced me to a new product: The brow styler pencil and powder duo. She filled in my brows with the powder part after tinting my brows…and I knew I immediately needed it. I’ve been loving how easy the powder blends in while filling my brows in. Usually the pencil looks a little harsh, so this is a nice way to easily fill your eyebrows! yoga I used to really enjoy doing yoga in college. I took a yoga class for credit, and then slowly started taking more classes in the DC/Virginia area. I also really enjoyed Bikram. For whatever reason, probably laziness, I stopped practicing. Over the last few months, I’ve been trying to get back into it. I’ve tried Y7 (and I really enjoy it), but I definitely need to continue practicing on my own. MILK lip balm Every night after my skin care routine, I LOVE putting this lip balm on. It hydrates the lips using hemp-derived cannabis seed oil and shea butter. SO soothing and perfect way to get your lips ready for the next day;)

A round up of the best beauty products from the TCE team – Dana and Elle (Keely sat this one out!) image via Another month, another round up. Personally, I love September so much. It’s a perfect way to dive head first into Fall (content, weather, clothing, etc.). Now that the weather is going to begin changing, I’m looking forward to all of the new products that will be put to the test! dana’s picks Laura Mercier Translucent Powder Seriously didn’t know I needed this in my life. I’m SO happy I did though because BYE, BYE SHINE. I love how loose this powder is, and how easily it goes on and blends over your make up. Tatcha Luminous Dewy Mist I went through (okay, fine,I’m still going through) a phase where all I wanted to do was look dewy. So when Linda said I needed this mist in my life, I immediately went to pick it up. Although it’s a bit on the pricey side, I genuinely love how it makes my skin glow post-make up routine. elle’s picks Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer I decided to take the plunge and buy this hair dryer and I am glad I did. I had a much cheaper one that I received from my old job but I was getting tired of it and it wasn’t doing the trick. I’ve been to Drybar many times before and always think my hair is smooth and less frizzy whenever I go. I knew this was not only because of the products but because of the dryer. Since I purchased the dryer I’ve noticed such a nice change in my hair. Granted it could be because it isn’t humid every single day (more like every other day) but I think you get the point. Becca Highlighter To be honest, I got this because during the Sephora sale for VIB members I texted my friend Liz and was like tell me what I need. I did this last year too and $300 later I realized I bought this and not sure why I did. OOPS. Anyways, highlighter is all the rage right now and I was skeptical at first because I have naturally oily and shiny skin so I didn’t want to add additional shine. Well, this product is perfect. It adds a little glow in the right places and I’m glad I made the purchase. It is perfect to use for a night out around town (laughing at myself typing this because #grandma) or for a special event.

    The Beauty Edit: April Favorites

A round up of this month’s favorite beauty, skincare, and wellness products! This was a great month for me. I’ve found SO many products that I’m just in love with…and I’m so excited to share them with you! La Mer’s The Concentrate JUST NO WORDS FOR THIS PRODUCT . Obviously La Mer is a pretty big investment, but trust me…if you splurge on one beauty product, it NEEDS to be The Concentrate . It’s some kind of magical product that feels like straight up velvet on your face. My skin is INSTANTLY transformed to be super silky and smooth. It’s made with an elixir that calms your skin whether you’ve had a little too much sun or been hit with too much winter wind. I promise anyone will LOVE this product. Ice Roller Gotta admit, this one isn’t my doing. Grace introduced me to the ice roller and I’ve become HOOKED. I try to use it every night, and roll for like 10-15 minutes after my skincare routine. It’s a great way to depuff, drain, and wake your skin up. It also has been helpful when I have a headache. Seriously recommend this! Glossier Detox Mask A few weeks ago I finally made it to the Glossier store in SoHo, and obviously went a little crazy. I picked up this detox mask and have been LOVING it. My skin looks AMAZING after (the first time, my skin was a little agitated, but I gave it another try). This mask removes unnecessary oils and impurities from your skin, and leaves it feeling fresh. I put this on for about 12 minutes (although they recommend 20, but that’s when my skin starts to get pissed off), and my skin is definitely brighter and even! Glossier Boy Brow I bit the bullet and bought the Boy Brow . And LOVE IT. After I went to the Neiman Marcus salon to get my eyebrows shaped and tinted, I knew I wanted to keep up with my brows and be able to fill them in properly. I really love this brow gel because it not only helps me fill them in, but also because it helps keep my brows in place. I use the shade Brown to make it as natural as possible. Laneige Lavender Sleeping Mask You guys know how much I love the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask…and they came out with a lavender version. I LOVE anything lavender, so I just NEEDED this one too . I justified it by telling myself that I’m pretty much finished with my other container. This mask feels so good on your skin and smells SO delicious. It’s a nice way to just relax at the end of the day. PS: It’s a limited edition mask, so don’t miss out! Origins Hello Calm Mask I can’t remember how I found this mask , but once I did, I basically ran to Sephora after work. I’ve been wanting to try more products that infuse CBD. When I looked into this mask a bit more, I love that its main motive is to de-stress your skin and senses. It’s formulated with cannabis sativa seed oil that is rich in omega acids that deeply hydrate your skin. The product is also formulated without parabens, phthlates…and other things that I don’t really know about. But I do want to start paying more attention to what goes into the products I’m wearing. So Origins was a great place to start! Overall, this mask helps my skin feel and look healthier…and the calming scent helps too! photo by allie provost
