It shouldn’t be a big surprise that I don’t wear a ton of make up, nor am I into a ton of make up. New York City fashion blogger, The Champagne Edit shares her summer beauty routine! Check out the best summer beauty products! New York City fashion blogger, The Champagne Edit shares her summer beauty routine! Check out the best summer beauty products! I mean, come on. I was recently getting my make up done for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic and I told the MUA that I wanted “annoying eyebrows”. Clearly, I know nothing. Over the last year or so, I’ve been getting a bit more into make up in terms of actually putting in “some” effort daily. I used to NEVER wear any make up to work. And now I’m getting a leeeeeeeeettttle better at it. I think…someone please tell me if I look like a clown or something. FACE: Tatcha Dewy Skin Moisturizer Getting that dewy glow is the main objective since I don’t have much else going on. I picked up this Tatcha moisturizer simply because it had the word “dewy” in it. Yes, I’m 100% that kind of shopper…whatever, sue me. When it goes on, it feels a little thick, but it sinks in nicely. It definitely gives you a nice glow and keeps your skin hydrated for the day ahead of you. while I let that sink in and dry… BROW: it! Cosmetics Brow Power/ glossier Boy Brow I honestly didn’t start doing my brows until last year. I’ve always had dark brows, and they were pretty filled in. Last year, I started becoming more and more into a dramatic brow, so I decided to learn how to fill them in myself more. I’ve gotten my eyebrows tinted before, but don’t do it too regularly, so this routine currently works for me. I like the Brow Power because it isn’t too thick, easy to use, and is a great shade for my brows. I like to fill in my brows in the front mostly, and don’t have to do too much to the middle or ends of them. After, I like to use Boy Brow (in brown) to give a little additional color. The gel really helps keep your brows in place all day. now that the moisturizer is dry… FACE: Murad & Goop SPF SUNSCREEEEEEN. I think everyone knows JUST how important sunscreen is for your face. Unfortunately, I only started applying sunscreen DAILY this year. I also only started applying sunscreen while I was outside in the sun (pool, beach, etc.) last year. I know, it’s bad, but hey, I learned before I was 30. ANYWAY… I’m not dedicated to one product, so I wanted to share both! Murad City Skin SPF Moisturizer : I’ve talked about this product and brand before, but it’s still part of my routine! I like to add this before heading out the door to start my morning off protected from SPF, city pollutants, and blue light. Goop SPF : I got this sample at the VCPC and honestly was very surprised how much I liked it! Since it was a tester size, I keep it in my bag with me at all times for when I need to reapply throughout the day. Honestly, it goes on SO smooth and SO invisible. Definitely recommend! FACE: Beautycounter Dew Skin This was a very recent purchase…as in last Friday. I picked this up when we stopped at goop in Nantucket. I’ve been wanting to try some Beautycounter products for a while now (honestly Ashlee and Brittany are my go to gals for knowledge), but it’s a bit overwhelming since I don’t ACTUALLY need anything. But ya know, since this was a leisurely stroll around the store, I was able to test out their Dew Skin tinted moisturizer (in No.2). I ended up loving it SO much and bought it on the spot. CHEEK: Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge I am ALL about a good cheek color. Luckily my sister got a new product, so she gave this to me. Honestly, I rub this onto my cheeks with my fingers. It gives the perfect “just pinched” look. I use color Pale Pink . CHEEK: Tom Ford Glow Drops / Almay Instant Glow Again, v into the dewy look, so a good highlight is a must. My sister and I decided to splurge on Tom Ford Glow Drops a few months ago, and it was honestly a great purchase. And let me tell ya, if you’re thinking about purchasing, just remember a liiiiiittle goes a long way. For best results, I highly recommend using a beauty blender. When I’m in a hurry, my fingers have to do the trick. If you’re not looking to splurge, then I recommend this Almay duo highlight . The stick portion is super easy to swipe on and go! So as you guys can see, I’m just suuuuper into make up;) But I do love this look and don’t mind doing it every day. This finished look is usually about 5 minutes from start to finish…and gives you the perfect summer glow!
A look at the beauty and skincare products I’ve been loving this month! Benefit Brow Bar My eyebrows are becoming more and more important to me. I realized my brows were SCREAMING for attention just a few days before I left for Croatia. And let’s just say I haven’t given them attention in months. I really liked a local place that my sister and I went to in May, but they’ve been booked up forever. I knew Elle loved Benefit , so I made a last minute appointment at their SoHo location. And let’s just say, OBSESSED. I ended up getting a lip wax (WHAT?!) and brow wax/tint. I LOVE a good dark, filled in brow, and mah girl Kara knew what she was doing! It’s not cheap, it cost me about $60 (with tip) to get the three services. Definitely worth it before a trip though! Neutrogena Purifying Wipes I picked these up on a whim in CVS one night after work . If I’m in a pinch, I used to use the make up remover wipes. But these? WAY BETTER. These wipes clean the skin and remove make up without stripping your face of natural oils. Definitely packing these in my carry on for the plane so I can use them before my in-flight skincare routine. OPI Big Apple Red Any time I post something super close up of my nails, I get questions or comments about my nail color. At this point in my life, I can 100% say that OPI’s Big Apple Red is definitely my signature color. Every time I think I want something different and get it…I end up hating it. And then go back to my favorite color. There’s just something about it that seems so chic and classic. And really goes with everything! What’s your go to color? What products are you loving this month? What do I need to try next?!
Taking care of your skin is one of the most important things you could do for yourself. And now there’s a great solution to figure out what works best for YOUR skin specifically. Skinsei is a new-to-me company that helps you find a unique routine to fit all of your biggest skincare concerns. I think in today’s world, we’re bombarded with products and brands. For me, I used to buy products just because someone else recommended them or they looked cool…even though I had NO idea what kind of skin type it was good for. What initially intrigued me about Skinsei was how much research goes into finding your routine after you take a simple diagnostic. These questions are going to ask everything from skin concerns (oily, dry, etc.) to lifestyle (sleep, drinking, etc.) to diet. After you take the quiz and optional selfie to further analyze your skin, Skinsei will give you an assessment of all the factors affecting your skin. Next, you’ll get a 3-5 step regimen that is PERSONAL to you! I received a 5-step routine and started testing it out immediately. I thought it was interesting that micellar water was included in my routine as opposed to a regular cleanser. For the longest time I was confused about what micellar water actually was. Micellar water is a great cleanser for removing a lot of gunk (for lack of a better word) off your face. Living in New York City can be horrific for your skin, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this product rids your skin of dirt and make up! So, what are my other thoughts on Skinsei? I LOVE IT! Obviously, with any routine, consistency is A MUST. Their products are really affordable, which makes me excited to continue using this routine. Bonus points that all products from Skinsei are pH balanced! I like that these products aren’t going to throw off my skin’s rhythm! I hope this post helps introduce you to a really great skincare brand that is SO personal! If you want to try out for yourself, you can use code DANA20 for 20% off your first purchase! Thank you to Skinsei for partnering on this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A round up of this month’s favorite beauty, skincare, and wellness products! This month’s theme (well, we don’t really do themes, but like whatever) should be moisturizing products. Most of the products featured in today’s post are insanely hydrating. I think it’s important to highlight really hydrating products since we’re about to go through a transition in the weather. So let’s get to it! Lancer // The Method: Nourish Moisturizer I’ve been using this product for about a week now, and MAN IS IT HYDRATING. I combine it with my tanning oil drops and my skin is UNBELIEVABLY hydrated almost instantly. I definitely recommend this for nighttime use only, as it is pretty thick. Also, I know it’s really expensive, and I typically don’t spend this much on products, but after reading the reviews, I honestly just couldn’t resist. There’s hyluronic acid in it which it why it’s crazy hydrating. Avocado and olive fruit oils help lock in that moisture, which leaves my skin super soft and smooth. I also saw that there is a peptide called Hexapeptide-48, which improves skin elasticity, fine lines, and wrinkles. GIMME GIMME GIMME. Lancer // Omega Hydrating Oil Again, another product that intensely hydrates . I often switch on and off between this oil and my cannabis oil because I love both equally. My complexion looks healthy and the Omega fatty acids help protect against signs of environmental stress. Again, I know this is expensive, but a little goes A LONG way. I only use about 1-2 drops on the nights I use it, and I still get a ton of hydration from it. PS: Don’t forget to use on your neck! Clé de Peau Beauté // Intensive Brightening Mask I received a few of these masks as a gift from the brand, and really recommend. I love that it comes in 2 parts, so it’s super easy to apply. This mask is an easy solution for sun spots, age spots, and overall dullness. My skin looks and feels SO great after one of these (just 10 minutes). There’s a lot of excess once you remove the mask, so I use a roller/facial massager to help absorb more into my skin. Glyderm // Cleanser, Moisturizer, Lotion Glyderm is a new-to-me brand that was created by physicians, and I was really excited to try them out. So far I’ve used the cleanser (really like how this cleansed my skin at night and in the AM, the Hydrotone moisturizer, and the gentle exfoliating lotion.
A round up of this month’s favorite beauty, skincare, and wellness products! Now that the weather is changing, taking care of your skin is more important than ever. Lysine TMI, but I was unfortunately cursed with being prone to cold sores. My mom also does too and we both discovered that taking Lysine pills can help. For me, whenever I think a cold sore could come on (typically when I’m in the sun too long, eat really spicy foods, exfoliate my lips too hard, or an extreme change in the weather), I try and pop a few Lysine pills. Even if I already get a cold sore, it seems to help speed up the healing process. My mom suggested I just incorporate them into my daily routine and take at least 2 a day – so I’m going to test this out and see if that limits how many cold sores I get. Murad City Skin SPF I’ve talked about this before, but now with the warm weather approaching, I want to reiterate how important it is to wear SUNSCREEN!!! I know it’s like beating a dead horse, but yes, sunscreen is very important. Not only do I love this product because it’s super lightweight, but also because it shields your skin from key causes of environmental damage (UVA, UVB, pollution, blue light from devices, and infrared radiation). Aka it’s perfect for a New Yorker. Glossier Balm Dot Com I personally like super thick balms for my lips (they’re on the dry side), so when I discovered this Glossier product , I fell in LOVE. It also gives your lips a nice dewy look! photos by allie provost
A few of my favorite beauty and wellness picks for this month! chill mode eye patches I’ve talked a lot about Patchology around here, I’m into anything with cannibis oil nowadays, so I was really excited when Patchology came out with these eye patches. These patches help leave my eyes stress free. My skin feels calmer when they’re on and they help pack in some much needed hydration! aveeno 60 second in shower facial I’ve actually used this product for at least 3 years, but not sure I’ve ever talked about it here. I was invited to the product launch event for this product and really loved it. The purpose of this product is to use when you’re in the shower so it can react to the steam. I also love that it’s one less step I have to do outside of the shower. It takes your skin from dull to radiant but the time you wash it off. I love how INSTANTLY smooth my skin feels. skinsei update You guys might have remembered when I partnered with Skinsei last year . I’ve been really enjoying incorporating their products into my morning and nightly routine. I’ve specifically been loving the moisturizer. I brought it with me to Canada and it held up against the weather there! I highly recommend you taking a diagnostic and seeing the products/routines recommended for you based on your skin type, your location, etc. What are you loving this month? Let me know all of your beauty and wellness faves!
I wouldn’t call myself a beauty junkie by ANY means, but that’s actually why I feel compelled to share my favorites with you. As someone with a pretty normal skincare routine, I don’t really have a lot of “favorites”. I have tried and true products that work for MY skin, but I do always love testing out new products that will make my skin feel and look good. I couldn’t even tell you when I was introduced to Tula. But obviously, some influencer probably mentioned it, and I bought into it. If you follow a lot of content creators, then you’ve definitely heard of Tula. You’re probably sick of hearing about Tula. Perhaps even almost as sick of them as you are hearing about the Nordstrom Sale. AM I RIGHT LADIEZZZZZ?! But today, I’m actually here to tell you why I genuinely enjoy Tula products. And, since this is a touchy subject in the influencer world, NO THIS ISN’T SPONSORED. I’ve never even talked to someone who worked at Tula. Everything I have from this brand was paid for out of my pocket. The fact that I’m actually writing its own BLOG POST must mean I TRULY, TRULY love it (blog posts are a lot of work, people!!!). Today I want to share the products I LOVE from Tula, and even some products that didn’t really live up to the hype. cleanser I’m pretty sure this is labeled as a cult favorite on the website. I’ve been using it for about 2+ years, and really do like it. It’s definitely gentle, a little thicker, and definitely gets the job done. I don’t really wear make up, so I can’t attest to how good it is at removing everything from your face. But from what I can tell, it gets the job done. glow To be honest, I bought into the hype of the eye balm (blue), and didn’t LOVE it. I did like that it was super cooling on my skin, but that’s kind of all it did for me. I ended up giving it to my sister. When I saw Courtney was coming out with this product , I didn’t think much of it. When she started showing the product and all the different ways to use it, I wanted to try it. Here are the ways I’ve been using it: Under eyes On my nose On my lips I LOVE IT! I will say you definitely need to blend it in under your eyes. It looks weird at first, but once blended, it’s gorgeous! exfoliate And now we can get to my latest love! I saw my friend Jenn using this product and I was VERY interested. Since we’re friends, I asked her if she actually liked it (LOL, ya just never know these days), and she had nothing but great things to say. I ordered the 6 pack as a test, and when they arrived I tried it that night. GUYS. This might be my FAVORITE product I’ve ever purchased from Tula. I love the serum on one side of the pads, and an exfoliate on the other side. I noticed a difference in my skin IMMEDIATELY after use. Smoother, brighter, it was just GREAT. The directions say 1-2 times a week, so it’s definitely in my weekly routine!
As I got into my mid 20s, I really started appreciating skincare. Now that I’m in my 30s, I notice a difference if I go even ONE day without my skincare. I feel like I have my morning and night routines down to a T, and there are products that are absolute staples. These are skincare products you’ll want to buy in bulk – unless you live in a 600 sq. ft. apartment like me. But let’s be honest, that hasn’t stopped me yet. So let’s get into it, shall we? Skincare Products You’re Going To Want In Bulk Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream Okay let’s kick off with one of my favorite skincare products. This moisturizer came highly recommended on Instagram a few months ago, and I’m SO glad I picked it up. I’ve now stocked up three times on this product (both Rob and I use it). This moisturizer has become my every day (layered under the Sunday Riley CEO Brightening Moisturizer ) one. I really feel like it moisturizes my skin SO well. It also feels nice and cool on your skin, and I love waking my face up with it! Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Omega-Rich Cloud Cream OOOOH WEEEE, I love this cream . I had it in my cart for a long time, and finally bought it once I needed a new night cream. The first thing I noticed was a little goes a LONG way, and I love that. This small jar is going to last me a while! This botanical face cream visibly increases that plumpness we all want…WHILE WE SLEEP. Waking up after the first night of using the cream , I noticed I wasn’t waking up with dry patches around my cheeks and chin. That was my first green flag – improvement after ONE use! Some notable ingredients are omega fatty acids, botanicals, and Squalane (which you’ll see again later). I also want to point out the texture of the cream – it’s whipped into this lightweight, and for lack of a better term, cloud like texture. It feels pretty thick on, but absorbs nicely into the skin! First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner I’m almost done with my f irst bottle of this toner , and I’m definitely buying more. I believe this is an underrated product. I use this right after cleansing to help give my skin some additional cleanse, and then it helps soothe, soften and moisturize my skin. I always think of toner as the prep step — after using, my skin is ready to absorb my serums, oils, and moisturizers. Farmacy Filling Good Hyaluronic Acid This product was gifted to me, and it’s very good. I just finished the bottle, and it’s already in my cart for my next Sephora run. I started using a hyaluronic acid last year, and definitely love the added hydration. This serum helps plump the skin while hydrating and smooths the look of wrinkles. If you’re concerned with fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, and elasticity…this product is for you! I love the lightweight formula, it feel SO nice on my skin. I definitely notice my skin feels more hydrated and smooth. This serum also absorbs really well into my skin, which is always an added bonus! The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane Since dryness has been the bigger concern for me over the last few months, I wanted to add more hydration products into my routine. I started researching products for dryness and found this from The Ordinary – I actually had used their hyaluronic acid , but started using the Farmacy one once my bottle was done. This isn’t my first product from the brand. I actually own quite a few of their products. I think they’re INCREDIBLY reasonable in terms of prices. But Squalane is an exceptional product for hydration, so this is something I’m definitely going to purchase over and over again. I’ll admit, the first few minutes of putting this on, I was a little nervous about how oily my skin looked like. BUT, that subsided once it absorbed into my skin and especially after ice rolling. I wake up with significantly more hydrated skin as opposed to when I didn’t use this product. The love I have for some skincare products might seem weird, but when you find skincare products that make you love your skin…there’s nothing better! These products have really helped me love my skin and address the concerns I have. What are some of your hero skincare products?
I know, I know. Yoga isn’t for everyone. So that means hot yoga might not be for everyone. But let me tell you why I love it. I started doing yoga in 2019 as a way to supplement my SoulCycle classes. Fast forward to now, I’m pretty much only doing yoga. Back in 2020 during peak Covid, I was doing yoga 5 times a week. I felt stronger than ever. I loved everything about yoga – I loved feeling in tune with both my body and my mind. It’s really been SO good for me for the mental and physical aspects of my body. It still works for me. I enjoy a vinyasa style class…specifically when it’s hot yoga. Once you get used to the idea of being in a hot room (around 80-90 degrees), I think you’ll find that hot yoga has some additional benefits — think: detoxing and cleansing your body! PS: I’m not talking about Bikram (that’s probably my least favorite type of yoga). Benefits of hot yoga Reduces stress Detoxifies your body Aids with healthy weight loss Increases flexibility Strengthens your body Increases your heart rate Ups your lung capacity Good for your skin Prevents back pain (if done correctly !!!) Challenges your body and mind It’s ok to be a hot yoga beginner Whether you’ve just started practicing yoga or are finally ready to try a hot yoga class, I recommend sticking with an “all-levels” class. These are actually the classes I’m most comfortable in as well. Proper form and alignment is one of the MOST important parts of yoga — and it keeps you injury free! The more understanding you have of yoga, the poses, and how to modify poses/use props, the most comfortable you’ll feel in a hot yoga class. Once you get over the fear of being the new person in a yoga class, you’ll soon see that no one actually cares about what you look like. Everyone truly is there to focus on themselves and their own yoga practice. Before the hot yoga class While “prepping” for a class might seem so crazy, it’s pretty much just like any other work out! WATER, WATER, WATER. There is nothing worse than being dehydrated during a hot yoga class. Drinking a lot of fluids will only help your body get used to the temperature in the class. LAY OFF THE TACOS. Don’t eat 2 hours before class, especially if it’s your first class. When you’re full of indigested food in a hot yoga class, you MIIIIIIGHT not feel so great. If you NEED to eat something before a class, try a banana! GETTING DRESSED. I’ve seen it all in a hot yoga class. When it comes to getting dressed, I would leave the shorts in your drawer. I know what you’re thinking…if it’s a hot yoga class, why wouldn’t I wear shorts?! Well here’s the thing — you’re about to get SWEATY and DRIPPY. Leggings (or at least a pant that covers your knee) help prevent slipping. Trust me, you’ll be able to hold poses longer and will less effort in pants/leggings. During the hot yoga class When you step into the room, you might feel overwhelmed for a minute. For me, I legitimately start sweating ALMOST immediately. It’s important to breathe and continue to check in with your body. You might feel lightheaded, nauseous, or dizzy. While it’s cool to challenge yourself, taking a restoration pose (like Child’s Pose) will allow you to rest and readjust to the heat. And remember: take small sips of water even if you think you want to chug your entire gallon water bottle. I think it’s always SO important to remind yourself that yoga is never a competition. I’ve found that no one REALLY cares about your practice when you’re in a group class. Take care of your body, recognize its strengths AND its limitations. Being so in tune with your body will allow yourself to be careful when it comes to overdoing it — which equals less injury. Another important thing to note is that even though your body might feel extra bendy and limber during hot yoga, you should still be careful when it comes to pushing yourself. A few weeks ago, I thought my hips were loose enough for full on Pigeon Pose…and turns out I strained my hip flexor (it was pretty painful for a couple of days). Things you’ll need during class There’s nothing worse than feeling unprepared in your hot yoga class. Here are the things I NEVER leave home without. When you’re super thirsty or just need a break from hot yoga, the last thing you want is a sip of HOT WATER. I fill my Hydroflask with cold, cold, cold water before class and it stays that way even when you’re in the heated studio. Yoga mats come in all shapes, sizes, and budgets . I personally swear by Manduka. I still am LOVING their GRP 4mm mat for hot yoga. The “lite” version is better for travel, and it is designed to have no-slip grips no matter how much you’re sweating. They use a charcoal-infused rubber technology to absorb sweat and eliminate odor. I also use this mat bag to bring my bag to and from class . Slipping when you’re in a pose is scary and obviously dangerous. Even if you have a mat designed for hot yoga, you still need a full length hot yoga towel to help absorb the sweat dripping onto your mat. While there are some towels that have grips on the bottom, I don’t love the idea of spending $$$ on towels. I picked up a few of these hot yoga towels from Amazon and they definitely do the trick. Actually, I found the same brand has a sticky version for a few extra dollars , so I’m going to test those out too! I also use a small microfiber hand towel . I leave it at the top of my mat and use it for my hands and arms when I’m feeling EXTRA sweaty. It’s also a necessity for when sweat gets into your eyes in the middle of Downward Dog;) I think I need to start wearing a headband to class to minimize this because there is NOTHING worse than sweat burning your eyes! Usually the studio has blocks available, so I also highly recommend placing those at the front of your mat before class. Things you’ll need after class COOL, you just finished your hot yoga class! I usually stay after Shavasana for a few more minutes to allow my heart rate to fall even more and get a few more stretches in before leaving the studio. Now I will say, the LAST thing you’re going to want to do is put clothes on, BUT it’s a must. I always bring sandals and an extra pair of clothes to change into for my walk home from the studio. Trust me, you’re going to want to do this — my clothes are literally DRIPPING after a hot yoga class. When it’s winter, you DEFINITELY need to make sure you’re bundling up or else you’ll allow your body to become prone to tightening up. And just like before class, you need to DRINK, DRINK, DRINK. You lose SO much fluid during a hot yoga class, and you need to allow your body to recover immediately after. I like chugging water and picking up a green smoothie on the way home from class! Although I don’t like coconut water, a lot of teachers recommend drinking it after class! And there you have it! My tips on taking and surviving a hot yoga class!
